Food Coach LLC is managed by Lisa Garcia, a registered and licensed dietitian based in New Hampshire. Lisa’s fascination with food and science began at a very early age in her great grandmother’s kitchen. Her family encouraged her love of food, cooking and science and she entered the University of Rochester to study biochemistry. Like so many young people, she switched majors and after graduation she found a position in marketing. During the 20+ years Lisa worked in marketing, her passion for food, nutrition and health continued to grow. She decided to return to college to study nutrition, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and food science. She competed for and earned a place in the University of New Hampshire’s dietetic internship program. After completing the program, Lisa passed the rigorous national exam to become a registered dietitian. Dedicated to the evidenced based practice of nutrition and dietetics, Lisa continues to study the interactions of food, behavior and health by regularly reading scientific research and attending conferences. Lisa’s areas of interest include helping people who struggle with excess weight, people who have challenges maintaining a healthy weight, and people who have food allergies, food sensitivities or food intolerances. She holds a certificate in Adult Weight Management from the Commission on Dietetic Registration and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and active in the New Hampshire Dietetics Association. Lisa’s philosophy is that food is important for both health and enjoyment. She uses her knowledge and experience to help people sort through the fads, myths, and marketing that influence what we eat. How can she help you?
